Golden buho – Schizostachyum brachycladum (yellow)

Family: Gramineae/ Poaceae

Description: Notably yellow culms with green stripes. Leaves 4-7 per branch, oblong-lanceolate, 15-40cm long x 2.5-7.0cm wide, green or with a few white-yellow stripes.

Distribution: Cultivated in Infugao and Benguet, Mt. Makiling.

Economic Importance: Culms used as fence, young shoots are edible. Primarily an ornamental plant and popularly placed as a border in koi ponds and Japanese-styled gardens.
